Susan Logoreci’s fourth solo exhibition of colored pencil drawings continues to explore modern themes of uncertainty and longing within contemporary landscape. In It’s Hard To Know Where You Stand, When You’re Standing In It, Logoreci pushes her buildings and bridges to their breaking point, allowing elements of abstraction to blossom within their gestural and jovial forms. The drawings are often inspired by collages created from a mixture of low-resolution print-outs of photographs taken by the artist or found through outside sources. The resulting contemporary landscapes are made up from the detritus of confusion produced by trying to reassemble what has been cut up and destroyed. They careen through the precipice of failure and fantasy, possibility and dread, hope and failure, invention and destruction. The exhibition will be on view from February 26th through April 16th, 2011.
